Hi,

Im a newbie and Ive been trying to create a link to open up a window but it seems that I always fail at it. I've downloaded the zip package on your website and checked the examples but unfortunately, the one I needed was not working (test.html). Can anyone tell me what's wrong with the script? This is the exact file from the zip file:

alright, I just found out that the browser I was testing on was actually IE 8 beta, it works perfectly on IE 7

Hi,

After displaying a window, i was wondering how to close it without destroying the element the window is showing.
I mean, i’m doing something like:

var dialog = new UI.Dialog({show: Element.appear, hide: Element.fade}).center().setHeader(‘Confirm Dialog’).setContent($(‘my_div’)).show(true);
dialog.getDialogButton(1).callback = function() {dialog.hide();}

But when i hit the Cancel button, i’m destroying the dialog’s element and every element inside… including my_div.
How can i only destroy the windows elements, not my_div?

I understood (?) that I must download the trunk version on github site in order to benefit by corrections.
I downloaded a zip version (doc,lib,src,test,...).
But Now ?
I don’t use Ruby, I am on window: what can I do in order to update my “dist” directory ?
window.js from my dist is completely different of the window.js found on github !!

Hi,

while i tried to disable/hide the close button of a window
and test it with Firefox it works fine. But when i try to
use it with IE(7) it throws an error “Typeconflict on line
2495” in the “prototype.js”.

I just tried it like this:

new UI.Window({theme: “maps”, close: false, width: 505, height: 640});

did i do wrong?

Hi.

I discovered a bug(?) in the window component in combination with the IE.

In src/window/shadow.js (trunc) in the methods setPositionWithShadow at line 77, setSizeWithShadow() at line 90 and setBoundsWithShadow() at line 101 the check “if (this.iframe)” is not enough, because in IE this attribute is sometimes of the type “UI.IFrameShim” and sometimes just an normal “element”. The element-type does not have the methods setPosition(), setSize() and setBounds().

So I added the following additional checks if the methods are there:

Line 77:
if (this.iframe && this.iframe.setPosition) {

Line 90:
if (this.iframe && this.iframe.setSize) {

Line 101:
if (this.iframe && this.iframe.setBounds)

I’m not completely sure about that but it works for me right now without any exception in IE. In other browsers (Firefox 3.0 and Chrome) it works fine without this changes.

Hi all.

I discovered an error in the shadow.js in line 303 in the method updateShadow() (trunc). It could be possible that the value of the variable h is getting negativ and this throws an exception in IE. Because a height cannot be negativ….

So imho this should be much better:
var h = size.height + this.shadowSize.height – this.shadowShift.height + “px”;

How come prototype ui removes the window from the dom when hidden?
Seems like it would be more appropriate for a .remove() method to do this instead of .hide()

I went to github and used the download button to download the zip-archive. I unpacked and used the new files. Nothing will work now… Please help me. Did you change the instruction code to use window inside a html / php-file?

The orginial html files in test > functional > window are not working, too.

I have exactly the same problem. Page with three fieldsets. As soon as I include window.js, the select-s become very slow in IE6 and IE7. On FF it works fine.

The only functionality actually needed from window.js is the windows.

I have tried the git version, but it seems completely different.

Suggestion: please add $Id: $ or alike to the scripts, it makes identification easier.

Hi Seb – I tried installing the latest from the trunk and it is still not working in IE. Basically, whenever I have select boxes in the background, the appear in front of the window. What am I missing?

I noticed that the old version of these windows you could set it’s position to the right or bottom so that the window would follow if you changed your browser size. Is there any way to get this effect in the new Prototype UI windows?

I remember that the old version of Prototye Windows has a feature where you could store all the windows in a cookie so that it’s the same everytime someone visits. Is there a way to recreate that for Prototype UI / does it exist?

Hi,

I like to temporarily hide a shadow of a window with a given id. It seems that the shadow is no part of the window, so $(window).down(’.shadow_container’) does not work. I see that there are methods to hide and show shadows, but how can I call these methods for a special window? In general: Hiding shadows while moving windows increases performance especially in IE dramatically!
